Lifting units

Lifting units are required if drainage (e.g. for washing machines, showers or toilets) has to be carried out below the backflow level. Waste water or sewage cannot be discharged into the sewage system through a gravity pipe. Pumping above the backflow level protects the area below from backflow and thus from flooding (for example, in the event of flooding caused by heavy rainfall). Small lifting units are generally used for bathrooms in basements or basement flats, while larger systems drain entire buildings.

Types of lifting units

There are different types of lifting units. Specialised units are used depending on the intended use. The available units can be differentiated according to the pumped medium. Sewage lifting units are one type of lifting unit. They pump sewage containing fecas (black water) out of toilets. Sewage lifting units are also available with a cutting unit for shredding solids contained in the pumped medium. Next to to sewage lifting units, there are also waste water lifting units conveying fecal-free waste water (grey water) from washing machines, washbasins or showers. Another special type are condensate lifting units, which are used to pump condensate behind condensing boilers or condensation water from air conditioning units. Lifting units are available with different capacities, DC or AC motors, different tank sizes, as single or double units and many other features. The selection of the right units depends on the various needs. The decisive factors here are the pumped medium, the required flow head and rate, the required emergency backwater volume and the location of use. The lifting units can be used in detached houses and apartment blocks, commercial units (including hotels and catering establishments) or in public buildings (such as schools or administrative buildings).
